This year, Archbishop Francis Leo started the St. Michael award to recognize outstanding service in parish life, education, social outreach or health care.
We are VERY pleased to announce that our own Melanie Nazareth, was selected from all western region parishes to receive this award for western region.
Inspired by her faith, Melanie has lovingly served our community with great joy, humility and fidelity for many years. She has been very involved with our Catholic Women’s as well as for helping to coordinate volunteers to sort food and clothing for Canadian Food for Children, for engaging parish ministries to assist at the Mississauga Food Bank, for encouraging members to participate in Citizenship Court and in the Prison Fellowship ministry, and for coordinating for many years the annual Christmas Luncheon for Parkdale residents served by the Missionaries of Charity. In addition, she has volunteered, and has now taken on an executive role, with Mission Angels, a group that provides food and essentials to those living on the streets of Toronto.
Award winners were honoured by Archbishop Leo in a special celebration and Mass on Sunday, September 29th, the Solemnity of Saint Michael in the Cathedral.
It is with great joy that we wish to formally acknowledge Melanie and her many contributions.
CONGRATULATIONS, MELANIE!!!
