WHEN JOHN THE BAPTIST RECOGNISED OUR LORD AS SAVIOUR

The theme of our Lord’s Baptism, which we celebrated last week as part of the Epiphany cycle of feasts, continues with today’s Gospel reading.

 John tells us how St. John the Baptist witnessed to Our Lord as the One whose way he had been sent to prepare, and that he had only known for certain that Jesus is the Messiah at the time of His Baptism, when he saw the Holy Spirit descend like a dove upon our Lord.
